💚 Heart Valve Replacement Surgery Today

I probably won’t be responding until late afternoon or early evening, and even then I may not do much more than REC, depending on my energy.

I’ll try to post a 💚, my proof of life as soon as possible.

I will read every comment, even if I can’t respond right away.

Check back later today and tomorrow and so on as I post updates.

Our fellow Kossak TwoOwls will have the hospital code to find out how I’m doing and will post updates if I can’t.

This surgery, if successful, will have the potential to renew my life, at least a little.

However, I will still have to deal with cardiac arrhythmia and a huge “staghorn” kidney stone that I’ll have to go to Stanford Medical Center to remove. Meanwhile, I’ll be on powerful blood thinners to keep me from having another heart attack from my arrhythmia and to make sure my new valve doesn’t get covered with organic goo.

I’m going to be entering into a cycle of surgery-recovery-surgery that will go on for at least four months.

Hopefully, if all the upcoming surgeries are successful, I’ll have a new life. I doubt I’ll be back to full health, but at least I can stand without nearly passing out.

I already voted, having dropped my ballot at the election’s office, and I got a text acknowledging receipt, no matter what happens, Kamala has my vote banked.

I’m leaving enough food and water for my critters so they will be set for at least a week. My usual pet sitter is out of town until Saturday.

I’m told I may go home as soon as one day after surgery, but I’m skeptical.

In any case, if I’m still in the hospital on Saturday, that means something has gone very wrong.

Thanks to those of you who have given me your support and love in this time of great stress. I will not be able to return to substitute teaching for about four months at least.
