The Evanston Fire and Police departments sponsored a First Responder Open House on Sunday at Fire Department Headquarters, 909 Lake St. Firefighters and teens from Evanston Fire Explorer Post 911 offered fire safety information and presented demonstrations including home sprinkler benefits, fire extinguisher use, auto accident extrication techniques and emergency rappelling. The EPD demonstrated its drone operations. View more photos from the event:

Members of the public got the opportunity to try using a fire extinguisher to put out a small controlled fire. (Click on any of the photos below to enlarge the image.)
